Loved this, Mollie! Makes me want to do a deep dive into the psyche myself 🩷 glad you watched "The Last Kingdom" - one of my favorite series ever....

I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Hattie! Omg. When The Last Kingdom finished, Zaz and I mourned for WEEKS. I then had an entirely separate period of mourning after I found out it was a fucking BOOK SERIES because I would have read the books first. *sobs in book nerd*

Same! 🤣🩷 I started watching it before it was completed - so I had to hold my breath hoping for a next season every time - then when they came out with the final movie, I lost my shit 🤣🤣🤣

Did you like the movie? We felt similarly (FUCK YES ITS NOT OVER) then we watched it and felt like it felt almost like an afterthought. The final scene with Uhtred still makes me cringe lol. The budget was not budgeting. 😅

It definitely had some issues - much like the last season, it felt rushed...but I love when a series ends with some finality so I took what I could get 🤣 It would have worked much better if they had made the last season two seasons and added some of the better scenes from the movie into the last season....

Historical fiction is my favorite genre; and I'll overlook a lot of they only do the characters justice 🤣 I have a few I'd recommend since you liked "Last Kingdom" - you've probably seen most but maybe there will be some new ones for you! "Endeavour" and "Mad Men" and "Queens Gambit"(1960's mainly) - "Endeavour" is a murder mystery but it draws on the time period extensively. "The English" - heartbreakingly beautiful - set in American West late 1800's. "Ivanhoe" BBC 1997 - has some of the most brilliant lines ever written for film. "Larkrise to Candleford" 1800's England - almost too sweet but restores your faith in humanity. "Jamestown" - focuses on the convergence of the British, the Indigenous Peoples and the early enslaved Africans in Jamestown.
