Yes, m'am. I've been thinking more deeply, especially as I considered and then did, indeed, pull the plug of my involvement with IG, FB, etc., that this is all a grand delusion, a mass hypnosis, a hex. As I spoke to people about my decision, the professed their helplessness ("But I have friends here!" "It's how I stay in-touch with family!" "Where can I find community?!"), as if this recent iteration of the human need for connection hasn't been the smallest of blips on the radar of human history and pre-history, as if our species hadn't developed over tens of thousands of years within a different context than what we're now experiencing.
This post of yours reminds me of something in the Vedas, that 90% of the world's souls don't want to wake up. To jump culture and time period, many are content watching the shadows on the wall, because they're more comfortable shackled to the rock than they are in the sun's glare, free to make their own decisions.
SNAPS. 🫰 It feels increasingly clear to me that the extent to which we can remove ourselves from this constant barrage of connection—this digital web that pulls us in every direction—is the extent to which we can truly reconnect with our inner worlds.
But finding the balance between rejection and integration the biggest headfuck. Technology, especially social media, has this insidious way of becoming indispensable. For me, IG is still how many new listeners discover my work.
That said, I made a pact with myself at the start of 2025: "post and go". No comments. No DMs. Just sharing what feels authentic and deleting the app from my phone, so I can redirect my energy toward what truly matters.
Your reflection on this being a blip in human history strikes me as profoundly important. For thousands of years, connection meant something tangible, lived—something we sought within our immediate communities, not on a screen. The idea that anyone, anywhere, can now comment on our art, our words, our existence, is a deeply unnatural development. Art wasn’t created for commentary in passing; it was meant to evoke, to linger, to transform. And now we're inundated with noise, barely able to hear our own inner voices. How can we sit with silence, explore our inner landscapes, when we’re so caught up with all of this? If I were a conspiracy theorist (and I kind of am) I would say it suits those with the most nefarious agendas that this is the current reality.
And yet, amidst a culture of reality deniers, you are not only speaking, but being heard. People are craving this type of content because it acknowledges that consensus reality… is not all that there is. Thank you for writing, and I look forward to more meme dissection 😮💨🤭
Our 'reality' feels like a splitting of the psyche atm. And, the gaslighting of our senses (for those who are rooted in deep knowing) is becoming more flagrant and bizarre. If we can just keep stretching our capacity to 'sense' rather than 'think' perhaps we can be led by the wisdom of our ancestors.. which is far superior than what we watch on our screens.

I'm so curious where you're taking all of this!
