I’m Mollie Adler - a podcaster, writer, creative, existential thinker, obsessive researcher, and fellow messy human being trying to find meaning in a society and culture that seems to be devoid of it.
Before I ever began publishing my written musings here on Subtack, I was baring my soul on my podcast Back from the Borderline. I loved podcasting so much I even started a second one sharing esoteric stories for sleep and meditation called Night Night Bitch.
Not only do I love memes, but I feel like they’re an incredible way to start conversations about psychological suffering and human existence. If you’re into that kind of thing, you can follow both of my IG pages here and here.
I open most of my podcast episodes with the same message to my listeners: “I don’t want to talk to your personality, I want to talk to your soul.”
The BFTB podcast and Substack are for performing emotional alchemy. The idea of alchemy is to reduce something with fire, burning it down so that something new can rise from the ashes.
You can do this with your personality, too. You’ve always had the power; you just didn’t know that. Now you do.
This is a place to unhook from your overextended life to explore, understand, and integrate the darkest parts of your soul. Here, there is no finish line, no quick fix or “cure.”
There is no outcome, only eternal unfolding.
Highly sensitive, emotional, and intuitive children are often impacted most severely by dysfunctional family dynamics, childhood emotional neglect, sexual abuse, grooming, generational trauma, and inherited toxic shame.
As adults, these same children often find themselves slapped with a “disorder” or “dysfunction” label, as mainstream psychiatry tries to convince them that the root of their suffering is due to a disordered personality or chemical imbalance in their brain.
The current bio-medical model of mental health is quick to pathologize. Psychiatrists and therapists operating within this model often ask, “What’s wrong with you?” but rarely do they ask the more important question: “What happened to you?”
Personalities are not cancerous tumors; psychological suffering cannot be accurately understood or treated through the lens of a purely medical model. We have to go deeper.
A path toward healing does exist, even though I know it can feel impossible when you’re looking up from rock bottom.
The definition of “savior” is: “one that saves from danger or destruction.” In my work, I challenge you to view your symptoms as saviors.
Through this new lens, we can begin to see painful mental health symptoms as natural responses that we can learn to become fully conscious of and slowly change.
When you begin to view your symptoms as saviors, you can see them as alerts from your body, mind, and spirit that want to let you know when you’re out of alignment with the deepest yearnings of your soul.
From chaos comes clarity.
Through working and integrating the concepts we’ll explore together here, you’ll emerge transformed, standing in the ashes of the person you used to be.
Many creators out there put more mental and emotional labor into their work than you could possibly imagine, and they deserve to be paid for that time and energy whenever possible. I’m no different.
I realize not everyone is in a financial position to pay me for my work. That’s why I offer a vast amount of value for free here on Substack and on my podcast.

Never forget: You haven’t met all of you yet. Within your weaknesses and inner chaos lie your greatest strengths. If only you’d dare to shine a light them, you could transmute them into gold. You have to get to the point where you’re willing to be The Fool to begin your Hero’s Journey.
